Meet Heather Ogden

Author of THE LIES WE FEAR: THE BETRAYAL

Dark Fantasy | Power & Control | Truth as Rebellion

About Snapshot

Heather Ogden is a writer, fantasy worldbuilder, and lifelong storyteller who finds strength in solitude and meaning in imagination. As an introvert, she’s always been drawn to quiet spaces where deep emotions and layered characters can unfold without noise.

She writes to explore identity, power, and the fragile line between loyalty and truth—often through morally gray characters and emotionally intense worlds. Her stories come from a place of reflection, curiosity, and a desire to understand the unspoken.

When not writing, Heather loves immersive storytelling in all forms: whether it’s sinking into a novel, strategizing through a D&D campaign, or exploring character-driven video games. She believes fantasy is a mirror—and that some truths are best discovered in the dark.

How This All Started

From scripts to stories—this is where it began.

I didn’t start writing because I dreamed of being an author. I started because YouTube was taking off, and like a lot of kids back then, I wanted to be famous.

So I wrote scripts—little scenes and ideas I imagined turning into videos someday. When I brought them to my mom, I didn’t expect much. But she read them, looked at me, and said I had a gift.

I didn’t believe her. Not at first.

But I kept writing. The scripts grew deeper. Characters started to speak louder in my mind. Scripts turned into backstories… backstories into short stories… and eventually, short stories into novels.

Somewhere along the way, I realized I didn’t want to be famous. I wanted to create worlds. I wanted to build characters that felt real and flawed and worth following. I wanted to write.

Even if it never got me anywhere. Even if no one ever read it.

Now, writing is part of who I am. It’s how I process the world, how I make sense of silence, and how I ask the questions I can’t always say out loud.

I’m incredibly grateful for the people who’ve supported me on this path—especially my family and my fiancé—who believed in me long before I believed in myself.

This may have started with a dream of the spotlight. But it led me somewhere better: to the stories that matter, and to the people who help me tell them.

What I Write

Emotion-first fantasy. Quietly intense. Deeply personal.

The Lies We Fear was the book that challenged me—it pushed me into a world of political control, legacy, and high-stakes betrayal. But while it’s part of my story, it’s not the full story of who I am as a writer.

At my core, I write:

  • Dark, character-driven fantasy

  • Emotionally intense stories about survival, identity, and the quiet fight to be seen

  • Small-scale magic with big emotional weight

  • Lonely characters, found families, soft rebellion

  • Worlds where internal battles hit harder than external ones

Dream Projects

Here’s what’s living in my heart—and maybe in future notebooks:

  • A fantasy novel about a girl, far away from home, and her journey to escape those who are after her.

  • A novel series about a girl forced to choose between herself, or the universe as she knows it.

  • A D&D-inspired novel about a party transported to the realm of the gods.

“I want to write stories that linger. That whisper long after the last page. That ask: What would you do if everything you believed was a lie?”
